I am not sure of this name evolution. But we are a Sept of the MacNaughten
Clan in Scotland.

Hi: I am a McCracken by marriage. But I have remained friendly with my
former husband, and am trying to do his side of the family for the benefit
of both of our children.
I have a hard time believing this, but he says he knows nothing of even who
his grandparents were! His father had
8 other siblings. With that many, there should be info out there! The best I
have is that both he and his father were born in Kansas. My former husband
was born in Farlington KS
19 December 1936. His Father was Ray Eugene McCracken, my husband's name is
Lester L. McCracken His mother was Ruth
Virgil? Colegrove, and I think she was born in Kansas or Missouri. His
father's siblings were spread all over Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. Any
info? Would appreciate same. My side of the family has been very well
researched.
My daughter did find that the McCracken name evolved from the McNaughton
name, over time.
