WARNING to all: At least two messages sent to me have had a virus. I have a
program which removes them from the hard drive, and I did it immediately, so
I do not remember who sent it. But when you see
whole blocks text of text with random letters and numbers, get rid of it
immediately, and report
it to your server. Please folks, be very careful about sending attachments.
Make sure they are clean
before sending. And it was on the MCCRACKEN name. I am using Outlook Express
6.0. Here is how
I get rid of these: When you see that block of random letters and numbers,
delete it immediately. Then
go to "deleted messages" and find it again. Then hit "Message." It will have
a drop down menu. Scroll
down until you see "BLOCK SENDER." You will get a large block of text
popping up. It says, roughly,
"Are you sure you want (addressee) removed from your hard drive permanently
and placed in your
BLOCKED SENDERS lest? Hit YES. Then you will see a brief "unloading" bar, in
blue. Let it run. Then
you will need to hit yes one more time. Then it will be gone, forever, from
your hard drive. About
every three months, hit "tools," then "message rules" and when you see that,
scroll down to "Empty
blocked senders list." You can also use this on every single SPAM message
you get. It drives them
nuts, because then they cannot reach you again. That does not stop the new
bad guys from reaching
you, but it does frustrate the old ones. Perhaps, even long enough to give
up. Good luck, and best
wishes, Penny McCracken.
