Hi Lynn,

Try writing to the ELCA Archives at this address:

They have microfilms of many early Lutheran Churches in IL. Do you have the
name of a town where St. John's was located? On the ELCA Archives website:

www.elca.org/os/archives/congregationalrecords.html

I find that they do have the archives for a St. John's Lutheran Church that
was located in Fairview (Coal Creek), but I have no idea which county that is
in. They will be able to help you with regard to other St. John's Lutheran
Churches in LaSalle Co., IL as well (even if they are not on that list).

The Archives office is located in Elk Grove Village, IL, near Chicago. The
staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I've borrowed microfilms of
Lutheran Congregations directly from them, which I was able to look at for a
month before having to send them back. Good luck with your search!

Doris
