I'm very new to the list, and have a German colonial family I need
some help on. George and Anna Roth/Rhodes were born ca. 1748 (based on
birth date of first child) and the earliest info on them was their sale of a
farm in Frederick Co., MD in 1783 when they moved on to Bedford Co., PA.
While in Frederick Co. they had five sons: Philip, Henry, George, Jacob and
Christian. Two of them, Jacob and Philip, moved to Montgomery Co., OH
(Dayton area) in 1810 where they homestead 160 acres in 1814. I descend
from Jacob. Today, the family well populates the western Ohio counties of
Montgomery, Miami, Darke, Shelby and Preble.
The two brothers help found a German Reformed church near
Farmersville, OH in 1811. It was a Union congregation with a Evan,.
Lutheran alternative congregation. After that time, everyone in the family
became Lutheran and remain so today. I'm guessing that George and Anna were
possibly Lutheran in Frederick co. Does anyone have any records on them?
All the Rhoades/Rhoads/Rhodes researchers have reached a dead-end on them.
