Perhaps the listings below may help someone - copied from CNIDR search. I'm
still searching for Obadiah Hastings referred to in #1. Of course, he may be
known as Hast(e)y or any of the seemingly endless spellings ranging from
Haskins to Houston. Maybe he's 'Obed' or 'Diah'.
Does anyone have access to the CALENDAR OF SUSSEX CO DE PROBATE RECORDS
1680-1800? Is Obadiah/Obediah/or Abadiah (as I found him in Scharf's
Hist.of DE) listed anywhere ???

HastingsContent-Type: text/plain; format=flowedList, i've collected some
data from the DE Hastings family. If anyone knows anything about the Daniel
or Joshua who lived there, please let me know. Sherry1.I've gotten no
farther back than Obadiah as father in son James' will (d. 1833). Thereis a
land patent ca 1785 for Obadiah in Sussex Co., Del; and in 1790-1820 census,
O. isthe sole occupant of his land, but there are plenty of other Hastingses
inthe area (and still are but they seem to care nothing about their
ancestry).James' son, my great grandfa Waitman/Wateman was b. 1819 and went
to MercerCo., OH, in 1847. Older brother John was willed most of James'
land. James'wf was Alafare BENNETT, also an old (pre-1800!
) name in
the area aroundLaurel, DE, which is just across the line from Salisbury,
MD. Don't knowObadiah's wife. The name Elihu appears in more than one
Hastings family in the area--one asWaitman's brother, another in the late
1700s. Other names that seem to becontemporary with Obadiah or son James are
Joshua, Jacob, Jesse, but Ihaven't established the relationships..>>2.>I
