There were many Mary Woolfords in Dorchester County, Maryland.

One Mary Woolford (1663- abt. 1740) was the second wife of Henry Hooper, Jr.,
who came from England to Dorchester County, MD. She was the daughter of Roger
Woolford and Mary Denwood.

A second Mary Woolford born 1691, was the daughter of Col. Roger Woolford,
(son of the above Roger Woolford and Mary Denwood), and Elizabeth Ennalls. This
Mary married John Pitts.

Another Mary Woolford, daughter of John Woolford and Mary Bruff married Capt.
Robert Hewing.

And there were others, so it is probable that this name came from the
families in Dorchester County, Maryland.
