Patricia,

Samuel died at 5 months. Obed and Lovey Milbourne were married, she died
about 8 or 10 years before he did.

Well, that's probably "Levi Ward" - Ward is a Crisfield name.

I know very little about the Rigginses, only some stuff we got looking at
old deeds and perhaps a couple wills, which I will try to find.

I think the Pokomoke Farm is probably at or near what is now called
Milbourne Landing on the Pocomoke.

Craig, now I am most interested in the markers as well. After reviewing some
of my family mysteries (McCready/Milbourn(e),Slave Nancy, etc.), I've noticed
some patterns of names. I'm hoping since you have access to more records
than I right now (I'm in Santa Cruz, CA), perhaps you can fill in some of my
"wonderings" of how these families may (or may not) fit in....

Beginning with the Somerset Co. MD Wills, Liber EB#23, Folio 191 which
says Jacob Milbourn dtd. 5/25/1812 prob. 6/22/182\13 bequeaths to:
(1) Lodewick Milbourn -- son
(2) Gilbert Milbourn --- son
(3) Levey Ward --- free negro (my notes, might not this be Lovey?)
---sells to him negro woman "Nancy" for $200 w/in 2 mos. of testator's
decease. Otherwise to highest bidder.
(4) William Marshall -- son-in-law
(5)Isaac Marshall -- grandson
(6) Jacob Marshall -- grandson
(7) Mary Ann Cox - granddaughter
William Anders --- grandson (son of dau. Anna Anders)
Molly C. Anders -- granddaughter
(This information courtesty of R. Hall)

Then I notice that in the Chancery Records there is this entry:

1838/11/20
8427: George Hargis, Betsy Hargis, Obid Riggin and Lovey Riggin vs.
John Milbourne, Charles Milbourne, Loderwick J. Milbourne, Sallly
Millbourne, James Handy, Harriet Handy, John Cullin, and William
Adams. S.O. Petition to sell Pokomoke Farm
Accession No.:17,898-8427

There are some repeating names and they may not be of the same family
or perhaps a different generational gap, I don't know. I'm have difficulty
sorting this out. Because I am still looking for my illusive Nancy McCready
(different spellings last name) who married Jacob Milbourn June , 1801.
But again why my curiosity is peaked is that on a very poor copy of a document
from Jacob Milbourne to Benjamin McCready, he seems to have written out
a will to Hannah Milbourne, 1824 (Too Late Discovery) for a Slave named
Nancy 34 years old, $80 AND 10 Hogs, 20 Acres of Matthews Adventure,
2 cattle, etc. While the copy is so poor, it appears as if Jacob was
concerned how Hannah would be taken care of when he died. And so
left this inheritence for Benjamin, ultimately, to care for his mother,
Hannah.

If any kind soul can tell me if this makes any sense, I'd appreciate it
greatly.
And especially if someone can locate this document (one referenced above)
and send it to me, that might assist in clarifying some of my questions about
Hannah.
In someone's handwriting at the top, it says, JP#1/164, if that's any help.

It seems, however, that "Nancy" was certainly of interest within the McCready,
Milbourne and now perhaps the Riggin family? What say you?
