The map is actually unfortunately lacking in detail across almost all of the
Maryland Lower Shore. Almost no place names for settlements and precious
few
physical features are given. The eastern half of the region is almost
blank.
Several of the major rivers are unnamed. A few of the creek names (and
maybe
even exhibitions of courses, but I didn't do a really close comparison) are
actually pretty mysterious, as they don't conform to contemporary local
sources. Dorchester County is exhibited as intruding well into what was
then
Somerset. And so on. It would appear to be a pretty non-authoritative
rendition of
this region, even for the times. This map won't be much use for genealogy
in
Old Somerset ...
