Charles,
The John Gibbons of whom you write is my ancestor and I do not find that he married Elizabeth Freakes. It is more likely that William Freakes was apprenticed to John Gibbons. You would have to check the judicial records to see if that were true. Another possibility is that Freakes was a tenant on the plantation.
The Givans family in the Nanticoke Hundred does not appear to be related to the Gibbons family, even though sometimes the Gibbonses are written as Givans.
John Gibbons was the son of Henry and Ann Gibbons of Accomack County, VA and came up to Somerset County to purchase land in 1716 about two miles from the head of Back Creek (off the Manokin River).

Many Frakes family researchers are passing along the idea that a John Gibons
married Elizabeth Freakes in Somerset Co., MD, but I find no evidence
proving it. I need corroboration or proof of this marriage.
