I need help on two points. A document of unclear origin states:
"Thomas Bruff, taylor, assigned on 26 March 1672, to Matthew Ward his right
to 50 a. of land for transporting himself into this Province July 1671. {MPL
16:468}"
First, does this mean that Thomas Bruff transported himself to this province
(Maryland) or that Matthew Ward did so?
Second, what does "{MPL 16:468}" mean? The document is sprinkled with
similar notations, "{TALR 1:317}", "{TAJU NN6}, "{MWB 11:241}", and "{QALR ETA:
202}".
The usage suggests that these are references, but to what?
