All,

William Houston born before 1672 in Whithorn Parish, Wigtownshire, Scotland
bequeathed land to the New Castle Presbyterian Church in New Castle,
Delaware in his will date Dec 11, 1711 as follows:

"I give and bequeath to Mr. John Wilson of New Castle during his natural
life all that three hundred acres of land lying (on the south side of
Christin) betwix the land of Mr. Jasper Yeats and Doctor Spreys and to his
Successors Presbitarians Ministors of New Castle forever, and ever after it
shall be called Houstown Glebe"

Here is a reference to this gift in a note on page 130 of the book, "Crane
Hook on the Delaware", by Jeannette Eckman

"14 Holy Trinity Records, 253, 205-206. William Houston of New Castle,
merchant, by his will, Miscellaneous Book-1, 178-70. probate Dec 11, 1711,
left most of his property to his bother and other kin, but made a bequest of
300 acres to John Wilson, minister of the New Castle Presbyterian Church and
his successors forever, William's brother Anthony as chief executor settled
the estate according to law, ignoring the bequest to the church. The church
tried over many years without success to secure court order against the
heirs."
