Hi all:

I am trying to trace my SHILES connection and have hit the consummate road
block in the Revolutionary period. So far, I have been able to trace
backwards to Eli SHILES (1760/65-1847/49) who lived in Broad Creek Hundred,
Sussex Co. It is doubtless that he descends from Thomas Shiles (bef
1648-1675), the immigrant who was in Somerset since about the time of its
founding in 1666 and owned land on north side of Wicomico River near
Whitehaven (Shiles Creek). Trouble is, how to connect! Below I have listed a
hypothetical connection. I believe that Eli SHILES father may be Joshua
SHILES (b. bef 1755) who was living near Eli in the 1800 census (though they
may be brothers), then Joshua MAY BE son of John and Ann (Evans) SHILES (who
is son of John who is son of Thomas). Definitely need more research in that
timeframe though.

I was wondering if anyone else might be working on the family. Below is what
I have so far including the hypothesis. Please do not take this info. as
"gospel" as it's still a work in progress. Any help would be appreciated!
