This afternoon I received an email

Re: [LDR] Check out 1895 Atlas MARYLAND

It contained an attachment that contained a virus. I downloaded it at work,
and it took our Telcom team 3 1/2 hrs to fix my PC. If you have not opened
the message, DELETE IT. If you have opened it, but did not attempt to
download the file, DELETE IT.

The virus is one that attempts to steal passwords and pass them back to the
originator of the virus, whoever that may have been.
