I know that if you are looking for civil war pension records and they are in
the possession of the Veterans Offices rather than the National Archives,
they told me it would take six to nine months to recieve. The man was
friendly and helpful, just asked that I have patience. I am.
Hope this helps,
Michael Little

Subject: [LDR] National Archives Experience
Listers,
I recently made a request to the National Archives for any record of a Civil
War veteran of my wife's family. I had more facts than I do with many
individuals in my data base. Besides his full name, I had DOB and DOD, his
place of birth (PA), the unit designation of his Pennsylvania Regt., and the
fact that he was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg in December 1862.
It has been three months since I submitted a request for his records.
As this is my first experience with NARA, I don't know what the norm is for
the length of time before a request is processed. Could several of you
folks
give me some word on this.
Thanks,
George Bacon
