Hi All
I can lurk no longer. I am stirred to write as I have just visited the
ESSEX & CUMBERLAND Lookup pages where I have been appalled at the site of
advertising banners displayed across the top of the page. Surely this
allowing commercial interests to profit from the wonderful spirit of
volunteerism that the people who give of their time to these pages display
cannot be supported. It's enough to cause one to withdraw from
volunteering: Genuki, the Lookup Exchange and other similar volunteer
genealogical efforts have provided a shining beacon against the crass
commercial use of the WWW. Unwanted advertising is another form of SPAM.
We've managed without it in the past. Surely we can cope without it now too!
