late Comdg. 3d Batt. Royal Berkshire Regt,; born 1839 and married Alice
Martha Faber; married a second time to Elizabeth Nopra (now of Lanhaven and
daughter of Maj. Gen. George Drury,R.M.L.I.

Henry Jenkins: (died 1670) called "Modern Methuselah"; claimed to have been
born in 1501. In 1743 an obelisk was elected to his memory in Bolton
churchyard, a Blac k's marble tablet being placed in the church recording he
live to an amazing age of 169".

John Jenkins, born 1592, died 1678; earliest English composer of
instrumental music; lived in the family of Sir Haman I'Estrange, whose son he
instructed; lived later with Sir Philip Wodehouse at Kimberley, Norfolk.

Joseph Jenkins; D.D..; 1743-1819; particular a Baptist. In 1761 was awarded
one of Dr.Ward's exhibitions to King's Coll., Aberdeen, where was laureated,
1765; ordained pastor of Baptist Church at Sterwsbury.

Rev. Joseph Jenkins: 1730 ; minister-general Baptist congregation in Covent
Garden.

Joseph John Jenkins; 1811-1885; engaver and water-colorpainter; elected
member and secretary of Old-Water- Color society; sents 271 drawings to it's
exhibitions.

Sir Leoline Jenkins; 1623 - 1685 ; civilian and diplomatist; represendted
University of Oxford in Parliament; secretary of state at London; the endowed
Jesus Coll., Oxford, with bulk of his property, having previously contributed
to it's enlargement.

Sir Richard Jenkins: D. C. L.; 1785-1853; Indians statesman; Richard esq.
Of Bicton Hall, Shropshire. Was chairman of East India County., 1839, and was
previously made knight grand cross of the Bath; in 1830-31 represented
Strewsbury in Parliament.

Robert Jenkins;1731-38 master-mariner; in 1731 master of brig Rebecca;was
barbariously treated by crew of Spanish boat; his case was important factor
in bringing on war with Spain.

Thomas Jenkins; 1798; painter and dealer inantiquities; native of Devonshire
County. But settled in Rome, Italy. In conjunction with Gavin Hamilton, he
supplied English collectors withsculpture, coins and gems. Lost all property
when French invaded Rome.
