Hi do any of you guy or galls know of a list of Illegal Immigrants from
Italy to England between 1860 and 1880????

I have a wierd prob with my family.

On the marriage cert for my great grandfather and Grandmother, a Joseph
D'Ponio and Maria Gentili, Joe's father is listed as Antonio Mazzoni.

The cert is wittnessed by Rocco Mazzoni and a C Mazzoni.

Apparently the family settled in Wales between 1870 and 1880. They
crossed over from wales to Chester England, and all of their names
changed from Mazzoni to D'ponio or a variant. I KNOW they are hiding
something as some of the living ancestors have their own family history,
but get so far and either give up because its too difiicult to trace or,
just will NOT tell yuo what they found out.

Does any one have this in their family??

By them not telling me I am thinking that they must have been criminals
or something. Even today no one is known by their first chrstian name,
and my grandfather was known as Tony, but his names were Joseph
Jerome!!! Its all too Wierd. I am in contact with remaining Deponeo's in
Chester, and also direct family in Birkinhead Liverpool.

The older generation, who knew my Joseph D'ponio and maria or his
brothers will not give me any info. Its us kids who want the truth. By
making it hard all they are doing is making it more interesting.
If any one haspassenger lists of ships from NAPLES to England/Wales
between 1870 and 1880, I would love them, even info on where I can get
them.

PLEASE PLEASE help.
were they here illegally even?
