Hello
I would like to thank everyone who replied to my query relating to Lydia Ernestine MAUREAU/MAUREAN.
Jo did find her on the IOW site, giving her mother's maiden name as DYER, and Sally has found a marriage for Ellen Elizabeth DYER to an Ernest Pierre MAUREAU/MAUREAN in Gloucester in 1878, on Freebmd, which is brilliant.
Ellen Elizabeth is a daughter of my William & Mary Emma DYER, (my 2nd gt grandparents) although I had her down as marrying a Frederick Chambers. Another mistake!!
I haven't managed to locate Ellen, Ernest & Lydia on the 1881 census, but will keep trying different surnames as it seems to be one that is easily mis-spelt.
Many thanks to everyone.
Regards
Ally
