I have just received a copy of a marriage certificate for my ancestor William YELF and his second wife Jane ROBINSON. William gives his father as Robert YELF Cabinet maker and I am wondering if any information is available about this Robert YELF who was born in 1772 in Newport and married Sophia CARD in Newport 1802. He was the son of James YELF and Ann MIDLANE.
I know we have Robert YELFof the Yelf hotel and Robert YELF printer and Robert YELF the schoolmaster who also married a Sophia all of whom have been well documented on the IOW but where was this Robert in business or was he a man of several trades as was his son William???
