I have in the last few weeks made amazing discoveries on my great grandfather, James William Hartell DONOGHUE. As he was born in Dublin I presumed he was Irish born and bred.

However, I find all his family on the Isle of Wight at least after 1865, so they must have been 'passing through' Dublin.

Patrick DONOGHUE and Eliza (nee HARTELL/WELLS) had :

Daniel L S DONOGHUE born abt 1865 (according to the 1871 census) in Parkhurst, Hampshire

Caroline Mary b. 10th June 1868 in Gillingham, Kent

Albert Joseph Scannell born 14th March 1871 at Hunny Hill IOW

I have searched the GRO indexes for Daniel LS DONOGHUE but am unable to find his birth registration.

Unfortunately the name has so many variations, DONOHOE, DONAGHUE and sometimes O'DONOGHUE.(and more)

Does anyone have any connection to these DONOGHUE'S or have any information on Daniel, I haven't found anything else on him after the 1871 census, no marriage or death.
Patrick died age 64 on 8th May 1892 at Ashburton, Trinity Street, Ryde.

Any information would be gratefully received.
