Out of interest Lis this is not a very common name but...........

I am new to the list and am seeking help in tracking a family by the name of
ANTROBUS who were living in Freshwater East post 1901.

In 1917 Mr & Mrs ANTROBUS adopted a child and the only Certificate of Birth
we have states the child's name as MARJORIE ANTROBUS born 17 August 1917
(this certificate was after a request for it in 1973). The Certificate gives
no information about her original parents nor the adopting parents by the
name of ANTROBUS.

MARJORIE ANTROBUS married WILLIAM JAMES CHARLES HERBERT WARWOOD on the Isle
of Wight (at or near Freshwater) on 2 Jan 1937. William WARWOOD was in the
Army and based at 'The Needles Coastal Command Battery' at the time of their
marriage.

Marjorie & William's (Bill) first child was born on IOW on 27 Dec 1937.
After that William was posted to Scotland and the next four children were
born in different places around the country.

MARJORIE died in Prestatyn Wales in 1988. She was my husband's MOTHER.
WILLIAM WARWOOD died only 4 days ago on 25 April 2003 aged 92.

We have been tracking the Warwood side of the tree for some time but wish to
fulfill a promise to a wonderful old man, Dad, Grandfather & Father-in-law,
by finding out about Marjorie, his wife, and adding it to the family tree.

All we know about the ANTROBUS'S is that they lived in Freshwater East and
were either farmers or lived in a house that was somewhat isolated. We are
not aware of other children (adopted or otherwise). MARJORIE'S childhood was
not a happy one and it left deep scars on her. Her 'mother' treated her like
a servant more than a daughter.

Is it possible to get more information on this family?
Is it possible to find out who MARJORIE'S birth parents were?

Any suggestions or info would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
