Hello all

We have a small mystery from my grandfather's MEREDITH family, a bit more recent than most postings to this List.

He arrived on the Island with his mother and siblings sometime between 1910 and 1925, from Wales via Clapham London.
along with some HAMERs and BRACEs from Herefordshire (marital connections to the Merediths). They all seem to be farmers, in the Arreton area.

The mystery is why early last century (before the Depression) they should all descend on the Island from so far away. I have no knowledge of an earlier connection to this area. Any information or educated guesses gratefully received.
