Deveron,
I am certainly not an expert in Iowa genealogy. However, in trying to
locate a marriage record for 1871, I saw a CD on E-bay "Early Iowa
marriages". (I don't know the number for it) I requested additional
information on it and this was the response I received.

<<Iowa Marriage records were recorded in the state of Iowa from the very
start... 1834...
Following is a list of the counties covered in the database.... They all
start from the start of the county....no always 1834.... continue till
1880, some go to 1900 and some even continue till the 1920's but not all....>>
