Ken! I am also researching the COLE surname. My gggrandfather, John
V. PIERCE, married Abigale COLE around 1825 in Alfred, Allegany Co.,
NY. Abigale was born in 1806 in NY and her father was John COLE
whose wife was Olive -?-. John COLE would have been born around
1770. Olive was born in NJ in 1771.

I have been communicating with Lou Pero, who lives near Yakima, WA.
She has been doing the PIERCE line for many years and would possibly
have more on Cole, but I see you've already sent to her. What I have
I got from her.

However, I was surfing through Rhode Island the other day for
PIERCE's and found this for COLE: North Kingston, Rhode Island;
Officers to Commend the Trained bands or Companies of Militia in the
Colony: 2nd Co. Thomas Cole, listed as "Captain". This is from the
Records of the Colony of RI & Providence Plantations in New England.
June 1775 (Printed 1862, Vol 7). No connection so far, but sometimes
families travelled together so I keep this in a "possible connection"
file. Good luck!
