Looking for relatives of Thankful Elizabeth Darner Ford and Pleasant Robert
Ford (see below). Also interested if anyone can provide good historical
sources for Iowa history 1850-1860. Seems most of my maternal relatives
came to Iowa during that decade.

Darners - lived in Marshalltown, Honey Creek, and Ladora, arriving in Iowa
possibly in 1854 from Ohio. Charles Lanz's family tree on World Connect
follows the Darners back to Germany pre-1600. But his tree takes a
different path from mine about the time the Darners came to Iowa.

Fords - lived in Oxford and Newport Twp. Pleasant ("P.R.") worked for, then
possibly owned a Bank in Oxford. Parents were Thornton Ford from Virginia
and Eliza (O'Brien?) from Indiana. Siblings were Allie and Zelma.

O'Briens - As a young man, Thornton Ford worked for Pleasant O'Brien from
Tennessee. I believe he may have married one of Pleasant's daughters. Will
know more about that in a week or so.

Swezey/Sweezey/Sweezys -Thankful's mother was Ellen Josephine Sweezey,
daughter of Thomas Harvey Sweezey - lived in Marengo and were previously
from Howard, Steuben County, New York. Thomas and his brother Oliver
emigrated to Iowa sometime between 1850 and 1860.

Winn - Rebecca Winn Darner aged 71 in 1880. Was born in Virginia, lived in
Ohio, then Iowa with Darner husband.

Sabin - a John Sabin may be related as in-law.
