Thanks, Richard. This is very good. I don't think there was any publicity
when the state closed the records a few years ago.

I also spoke to our local legislators this morning. Remember, this is not a
genealogy issue, but one of democracy. The government can't protect
everyone without curtailing our freedom as a whole.

I'm sorry if I've turned this list into a place for making political
statements. I usually complain long and hard about politics as a subject on
a genealogy list, but this one needs to be addressed and it is not about any
particular politicians.
