I have revised the welcome message and am sending it to the list so you
will all have a copy of the current message.

WELCOME!

You've just become a member of the IOWA list—Iowa's finest state-wide
genealogy mail list! This is the place to post queries, ask questions
and share information related to Iowa genealogy. I'm your host, Richard
Harrison. You can email me at if you want to
talk to me privately.

LIST RULES:

As few as possible! I prefer to rely on the good sense of the list
members, but some things need to be spelled out. No one is going to be
removed from the list for making a mistake, however those who refuse to
cooperate after being warned will be removed or placed on probation.

1] Please limit your posts to Iowa Genealogy. Absolutely NO virus
warnings or money-making schemes.

2] Please do not repeat the same post more often than once each 30
days.

3] If something posted to the list bothers you, please respond
privately to the poster or to me, as appropriate.

4] Remember to be courteous in your public and private posts to other
list members.

LIST MECHANICS:

If you are subscribed in "mail mode" (IOWA-L) you will receive every
posting made to IOWA as a separate email. If you are subscribed in
"digest mode" (IOWA-D) several postings are combined and sent to you
together as a single large message.

1. To unsubscribe, end an email to that
contains the word UNSUBSCRIBE and no additional text.

2. To subscribe, send an email to that
contains the word SUBSCRIBE and no additional text.

3. To change from one mode to the other, unsubscribe from your current
mode, then subscribe to the new mode.

4. There is no "No Mail" mode. Unsubscribe if you want the messages to
stop, and when you want them to start again, subscribe.

5. To post a message to the mailing list, send an email to
. It will be posted to both the mail and digest
modes. You don't need to send it separately to both.

For your verification, a transcript of the original subscription
request is included below.
