I have just joined the list and am wondering if anyone on this list is
researching GILBERT. I am trying to track down my grandmother-in-law's
father, Norman Gilbert. He was born abt. 1863 in Iowa; have no idea where
in the state.
Does anyone have EASY access to the 1870 census (Index???) (maybe the 1860
index??) and/or the 1880 soundex (For Iowa)?
I am trying to see where there were concentrations of Gilberts, so as to
determine where to start looking for Norman and his parents.
