Bob, according to the WPA death record index for Monroe County, America Jane
Sare, age 78, died on March 18, 1913, and was buried in Bloomington, no
specific cemetery noted. Should you desire, you can request a certified
death record from the Monroe County Department of Health. That primary
document is legal evidence of the date of death. If the age as noted in the
obit is correct, her date of birth would have been about 1835. While the
death certificate, especially if you request a genealogy copy, may provide a
date of birth, that information would be secondary (hearsay). I suggest you
corroborate the birth information with various census records.

Subject: [INMONROE] America Sare
"Mrs. America Sare, aged about 70, her home on West 9th Street. She had
been sick most of the winter and two weeks ago contracted a severe cold.
Mrs.
Sare is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Norvel Ramage, who made her home
with her mother, Mrs. Alonzo Giles, Mrs. Belle Fedder and Mrs. Bath Giles."
This would be America Jane (Zike) Sare, my g-grandaunt. However, I have her
birth as 2/18/1833 from one source, while another - citing interments in
Rose Hill Cemetery - gives dates of 2/18/1835 to 1/18/1923. In that the
above is from the 3/18/1913 Bloomington paper, and says she died 2 weeks
earlier ---------.
Can anyone clarify this mixture of dates for me? Many thanks.
