Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Courier, Oct 4, 1895, second edition, p. 1.
Since the fair a large number of young men are going about the streets with their pockets full of small snakes amusing themselves by occasionally slipping one in an unsuspecting victim's hand or pocket. They purchased these reptiles of a vender at the fair and will only cease this disgusting practice when one of them runs his head up against the business end of an irate victim's fist.
