Powder Burned
While playing with some shot gun ammunition Saturday afternoon, Lola Algood, the 7-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ola Algood living on Elm street between 6th and 7th streets, very nearly lost the sight of both eyes from an explosion which he caused with a match. The boy was playing with several neighborhood children, one of who had emptied the powder from several shells upon the sidewalk. Striking a match he leaned over the powder and applied the little blaze, when the powder exploded in his face. A large portion of his hair, and both eye brows were burned off. The left eye was at first thought to have been put out, and the entire face was very badly burned. It is not thought the boy is permanently injured.
