NEW PROSECUTOR
Fred Fletcher Appointed by Gov. Hanley and Roy E. Pike for Deputy

Gov. Hanley has appointed Fred N. Fletcher as prosecuting attorney of Monroe and Lawrence counties to succeed Robert G. Miller.

The appointment was made Saturday afternoon and Mr. Fletcher will take up the duties at once. Mr. Fletcher is the prosecutor-elect of the 10th judicial district and would have taken charge of the office next January. It was generally believed that Mr. Fletcher would get the appointment and the fact is no surprise to his friends in both counties. Mr. Fletcher is one of Bedford's leading young attorneys and for many years was the Lawrence circuit court official reporter. For his deputy Mr. Fletcher has selected Roy O. Pike of the Citizens Loan & Trust Co. Mr. Pike is well qualified for the place and his appointment will give general satisfaction in Monroe County.
