DEATH JONATHAN BASTIN
Another old and well known soldier has answered the summons of death--Jonathan H. Bastin, near Hindostan, who died Thursday night after a long illness. He suffered from heart and stomach afflictions. In 1861 (difficult to read) he was a soldier for six months in the 7th Indiana Regiment, after he joined the 67th Indiana and served three years more until the end of the war. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially at the Decoration service at Simpson's Chapel where he has always been present at every service since Decoration day was instituted. He always made a short speech on the old war times and grew very enthusiastic as he recalled the incidents. His remains were interred at Simpson's Chapel Cemetery Saturday.
