John Adams bound to Ransom Hawley his minor daughter, Lucy Adams, to live with the said Hawley until the age of 18. During the time she was to be bound, Lucy was to be a "faithful and dutiful child" to the said Hawley. Hawley was to teach Lucy reading and math, furnish her clothing and provide her with bed and bedding at the time of her departure.
