Miller May Be Returned To Bloomington

Relatives Allege He Was Removed From City Without Proper Extradition

Papers Appeal To Attorney General

Alleging that Henry T. Miller was removed from Bloomington to Los Angeles, California, without proper requisition or extradition papers signed by the Governor of Indiana, relatives of the young man here have requested Attorney General James M. Ogden to investigate the case and if possible to have Miller returned here.

Miller, who was arrested some time ago in Indianapolis on a charge of stealing a Mormon sedan belonging to his brother-in-law Louis U. Lukenbill, of this city, was under a five year probation sentence in Los Angeles on a similar charge and when Deputy Sheriff H.E. Slattery of Los Angeles county came here Saturday and requested that the young man be turned over to him local officials complied.

Miller had been bound over to circuit court under $500 bond Friday by Special Judge James B. Wilson but officials here preferred that he be returned to California to serve out his sentence there than to proceed with the prosecution in Bloomington.

When questioned this morning concerning the case Police Chief R.V. Hinshaw and Prosecuting Attorney Donald Rogers stated that they did not know whether Slattery carried extradition papers for the young man or not but that since the state of California had priority in charges on him they had released him to that state.

According to a statement made by a representative of the United Press in Indianapolis today Governor Leslie had not signed extradition papers for Miller up to two oclock this afternoon.
