PNEUMONIA
Caused Death Of Mrs. Martha Zike At Harrodsburg Last Week
MANY BEDFORD RELATIVES
Mrs. Martin Zike succumbed to double pneumonia after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Smith in Harrodsburg with whom she had made her home since the tragic death of her husband who was killed in the National quarry near Bloomington ten years ago.
She was born in Monroe County near Guthrie May 27th, 1846 and virtually all of her life was spent in Monroe county. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Zike nine children all of whom are living, the fathers death having been the first break in the family circle.
She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church and was highly respected in the community.
Surviving her are the daughters and sons, Mrs. Jesse Dowling, Mrs. John Walls and William Zike of this city: Mrs. Charles Smith, Mrs. Alice Allen of Harrodsburg; Joe Zike of Smithville; Pink Zike of Bloomington, Mrs. Edith Linchtown of Springville and Samuel Zike of Cincinnati. Forty three grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.
Impressive funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at two thirty o'clock at the Methodist church in Harrodsburg by the Rev. Calvin Bair followed by internment in the Knights of Pythias cemetery of that place.
