$10 Prize For

A Park Name

At a recent meeting the City Park Board decided to ask the assistance of the public in naming the newly-acquired park north of town and a prize of $10 will be given to the person submitting the best name. The city now owns 60 acres along the north pike, including the cascades, and as soon as the Board is able financially, the tract will be converted into a beautiful park. It has always been the desire of the Board that the public should feel a keen interest in park development, as the parks belong to the people and the Board is always glad to receive any suggestions.

Up until this time, all the money available for park purposes has been used in acquiring land, as this is the first step, of course, in developing a park system. But the Board hopes to be able soon to improve the property north of town, as well as the block on E. 3rd St., between Washington and Lincoln. The latter will be known as the Hill-Buskirk-Waldron park, as the land was presented to the city by those families. However, the park alone the Dixie is without a name and in this matter, the help of the public is desired. The contest is open to all residents of Bloomington and closes May 1st. Send your suggestions for a name and address to the secretary of the Park Board, Mrs. Hubert Beck, 533 N. Washington. The park belongs to you. Help name it.
