Worthington Times, August 21, 1873 (Greene County, Indiana):

On last Saturday Elias S. Truitt died in this place, at the residence
of his daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Butler, aged 87 years. He was
an old settler of Monroe county, having resided in Van Buren
Township, in that county, for over fifty years.
