SERVICES OVER BODY MISS PITZUE
Remains Go To Indianapolis for Cremation
The body of Miss Anna Pitzue, who died yesterday at the home of her
brother, Edward Pitzue, at Ellettsville, after making a request that her
body be cremated instead of buried, is to be taken to Indianapolis Friday
morning where the process of reducing the earthly remains of the woman to
ashes will be performed. After the cremation the ashes will be placed in a
vase and will be kept by the Pitzue family.
Miss Pitzue is the first person of this vicinity that has died requesting
that the remains be cremated, and as far as can be learned the body of no
other Monroe County man or woman has been cremated. The remains of Miss
Pitzue will be accompanied to Indianapolis tomorrow by members of the
family, the casket being taken immediately from the train to the crematory
where the body will be placed in the furnace. In three hours it will be
burned to ashes, and the ashes in an urn will be taken back to Ellettsville
by the relatives.
Funeral services were held over the body Wednesday afternoon at the Edward
Pitzue home, the services being in charge of Rev. Allinger of Bedford. The
services yesterday were the last that will be held over the remains of Miss
Pitzue as no rites will be gone through with before the body is placed in
the crematory furnace or when the ashes are brought back to Ellettsville.
