Subject: [INMONROE] Mrs. Mershon Charges False Imprisonment
Date: Sat, 05 Jul 2003 15:23:10 -0500

Bloomington (IN) Courier, Dec 21, 1876, p. 3.

It will be remembered that shortly before the Mershons left this place Mrs.
Mershon was put in jail charged with setting fire to Milt Height's stable
in the year 1872. She was released after a few days' confinement on
promise to leave the city. Now comes Mrs. Mershon and brings suit in the
U. S. Circuit Court of New Albany against L. E. McKinney, Wal Hight, Add
Slocumb, Squire Coffin and John Sare, claiming damages for false
imprisonment to the amount of $20,000. Brown & Willard of Louisville are
her attorneys and the case is set for trial at New Albany in January next.
