COMES BACK AFTER 60 YEARS TO MARK GRAVE OF PARENTS

Some 60 years ago Frank Sullivan, living at that time in the Hindoostan
neighborhood, left Monroe County and now he is back on the scenes of his
boyhood days for the purpose of marking the graves where his father and
mother are buried. A $500 monument is to be placed at the spot where the
parents of Mr. Sullivan are at the final rest, and then Mr. Sullivan, now
aged nearly 80 and a wealthy Iowa farmer, will himself be ready to meet the
grim reaper when his call comes.

The father of Mr. Sullivan died in 1853 and the mother in 1856, and they
were buried on the Sullivan farm in a fenced in lot which is near the Polly
Graveyard. The graves were marked by a plain stone slab and the fence
around the little private lot, which is not far from the Polly Graveyard,
has been kept up these many years by the neighbors. The farm is now owned
by Dr. McNeill.

Frank Sullivan, after the death of his parents, as an 18-year-old boy, left
the Hindoostan hills and went to Iowa where he has been very
successful. His life has been lived and the sands of time are running low
for him and this visit to the old home place and the marking of the graves
is one of the final loving acts of his life. He has purchased the monument
which is to go up from Beldon M. Correll, and it is to be placed in
position Saturday. Mr. Sullivan and his son who accompanies him, will
superintend the placing of the monument. While waiting for the monument to
be prepared, the father and son have been visiting in the Hindoostan
neighborhood.
