Walter Gillaspy Jailed on Serious Charge



A charge of assault and battery with intent to rape was filed today against Walter Gillaspy by Fannie Deckard, a domestic. The woman alleges that Gillaspyy came to where she was working and informed her that he was issuing summons to the witnesses in the coming Ford trial and that he wanted to talk with her about it. He begged her to get in a buggy with him on the pretext that he wanted to tell her about the coming trial. She says he drove out the Unionville pike, and when a mile out he attacked her and tore her dress almost off. She claims she fought him and when another vehicle approached she begged the driver to bring her back to the city, but he refused.



Gillaspy was placed in jail today and his bond fixed at $500.
