The case of William Hays vs Charles Butcher, a school teacher in Perry township, for whipping his daughter, was before Mayor Hadley yesterday afternoon. There are about 50 witnesses in this case. The verdict was rendered at six o’clock last evening acquitting Mr. Butcher of the charge. A few of the defendant’s witnesses were used and no pleading by the attorneys was made for the defense.
