Pleasant Family Reunion
On Wednesday a reunion of the Matthews family was held at the old homestead just north of Ellettsville, and it proved one of the most enjoyable reunions ever held by the family. The meting extended throughout the day, both dinner and supper being served. The meals spread embraced all the substantial and delicacies of the season and were up to a standard that a critical chef could have claimed with credit.
Those present were Senator W. N. Matthews and family, Bedford; Hon. Fred Matthews and family, Bloomington; Mrs. Susie Edwards and family, Franklin; Mrs. Efie Hufford and Mrs. Northcott, Minneapolis, Minn., J. R. Harris and family, Mrs. S. E. Elrod and Miss Nora Steele, Dr. W. W. Harris and family, A. E. Matthews and wife, Charles Matthews and wife, J. A. Thomas and family, N. R. Matson, Miss Kemp, of Salem and Miss Walker of Bedford.
The house, which is a beautiful a beautiful stone structure, has clustered about it memories both pleasant and sad, as is the case with most old homesteads, and the reunions are participated with much interest by the family.
John Wickens and family, who occupy the property, did all in their power to make the meeting a success.
At four o’clock, Mr. L. E. Shaw, the photographer of Bloomington, took a picture of house showing W. N. and Fred Matthews and the tow sisters, Mrs. Susie Edwards and Mrs. J. R. Harris, and another picture showing all the persons in attendance.
