HORSE NOT USED TO CITY WAYS

Dr. Joe Hacker, the White Hall physician, was coming to town Sunday in a
buggy, and when he reached the public square an alarm of fire called the
department to South College Avenue. The engine dashed down the west side
at a 50-mile-an-hour gait when Hacker's horse espied it. Not used to such
sights in the city of White Hall, the animal turned tail and fled as though
pursued by demons, despite all the doctor could do. On the way out
Kirkwood Avenue, the horse made every possible effort to tear down all
telephone and electric light poles he saw and only stopped in his mad
career when out of breath. The buggy was damaged.
