MEN DIDN'T KNOW A GOOD THING
Assignee Walter E. Hottel (sic) Saturday afternoon offered the bankrupt
stock of millinery goods formerly owned by the Corman sisters at auction on
the public square. John D. Morgan was employed to cry the sale, but it
appeared as though you couldn't give the hats and other headgear
away. When Col. Morgan put up a nicely trimmed hat that retailed for $5
and only received one 20-cent bid from the crowd, he almost fainted and got
down from the wagon in disgust. The stock was returned to the old quarters
on 6th street where Assignee Hotel (sic) will dispose of it by
piecemeal. The men that composed the crowd about the wagon on the square
evidently didn't know a good thing when they saw it...
