Monroe, James, 1858-1831, president U. S. Grant of land to Joseph Mitchell
registered at the Vincennes Office for the northwest quarter of Section 5
in Township Seven, Range One West, containing 159 acres and
25/100s. Accompanied by biographical account of John Mitchell who
purchased the land in the grant from his brother Joseph in 1855, written by
his great-granddaughter, Eva Emery Doty in 1975.
In 1975 the Mitchell house on the land was owned by Dean William Christ of
the IU School of Music.
