Pay $22,500 for 78 Acres
Henry A. Lee Farm, the Old Rogers Place, East of the City, is Bought at Big Price and Will be Sold Off as City Lots.

Today a trade was closed by which Charles F. Johnson and tow others bought what was known as the Henry Lee Farm east of the city of 78 acres for which they paid $22,500 or at the rate of about $280 per acre.

This is the highest ever paid for farm real estate for any considerable number of acres in or about Bloomington, except for stone development purposes.

No announcement was made, but it is understood that the land is to be divided into town lots. It is outside the corporation and about a mile east of the University –what is known as the old Millian Farm,
later owned by J. B. Clark and then I. M. Rogers, then becoming the property of Mr. and Mrs. Lee. Mrs. Lee being a daughter of Mr. Rogers.

Less than 20 years ago, this farm was valued from $50 to $75 an acre. This gives one an idea of the increase of values in recent years in and about Bloomington.

Mr. Johnson is the father of the two men who own the fine local creamery plant and associated with him are messrs. Leiter and Hughes, who live at Oleans.
