The Eclipse Birthday Surprise.

This took place at the residence of Jas. Pauley three miles west of Bloomington, on last Saturday. His Brother, (Garrison) took him west of his home, to an old grave yard in which he had some interest, also to a neighbor’s, pretending to be looking after a milk cow… They returned to Mr. P’s home about noon. Mr. P. not suspicioning anything until in front of his house, then he said: “Garrison you have been fooling me.” A few of us accompanied him into his yard, where fully 150 people were waiting. Also a table of sixty feet long loaded with as many good things as were ever placed on a table. Among these was a cake composed of 66 layers…
