Tina,
You must send your e-mail address!
The 2 PENNINGTON girls are the daughters of: Joseph Pennington (of, I have
to look later, I think Virginia) and Grace Martindale, born in England.
There is a connection to the
Chandler's , it takes a minute to get there!
#1) Thomas Lloyd Lucas, Sr & Nancy Lake had 10 children; their 1st born is;

***#2) William Lucas ***see note below; marries RACHEL Pennington, they have
5 children,
their 3rd child is;
#3)William Riley Lucas b. 17 July 1844 d. 6 Nov 1906 bur.: Lucas Cem. Clear
Creek Township, Monroe Co., IN. He marries on 19 Nov. 1876 to Samantha Jane
Carter, b. 1857 d. 27 Jan 1929, bur.; Lucas Cemetery.
THEY HAD 9 CHILDREN!!
I have a copy of their marriage license. It is from Monroe County, they
married 19 Nov 1876. The license was applied for a few days earlier and it
looks like the 13 (th). Then, my family member who compiled this Lucas
book, hand copied the article about Samantha's death. The copy is in my
book. Then, there is a death notice for one of their son's, William Coleman
Lucas, again handwritten copy. My book was compiled in the days before copy
machines were available at the courthouses.
SAMANTHA JANE CARTER is the daughter of Coleman Carter and Lucy Ann
CHANDLER!
I think there are more Chandler's in some of the Brown County Genealogical
Society Family Studies that I ordered that have relations with my families.
The Brown County Genealogical Society has done 265 Early Families of Brown
County, Indiana. I haven't had time to study all of the material yet. Go
to the web site for the Society and look to see if there are any families
that you need, the booklets are very affordable and FULL of info!

***NOTE on William from Brown County Genealogical Society; "Research of
Patty A. Lucas, (Mrs. Freddie L. Lucas) Bloomington, Indiana in 1985,
indicates William was son of Solomon (not Thomas L. Lucas) who's first wife
was Mary Grimes. She, Patty Lucas, is ths source of above information."

MY FAMILY'S LUCAS book starts with;" Solomon Lucas and Thomas L. Lucas were
brothers, Solomon went to Nebraska and "up north". His children married
"New Yorkers". Thomas Lucas, Sr. went to Indiana and most of his family
then went to Texas." My family book shows Thomas Sr. b. 1785 d.1864 and
Solomon b. 1792,and d. 1885 in Arnold, Nebraska. My family book show both to
have been born in N. Carolina. However, The Brown County Genealogical
Society booklet shows the Lucas brothers were born in Virginia.
Hope this helps!

> Theresa,
> Yes they are! Coleman was the son of William Isaac Sherrill ( 1834-
1916), Wm. Isaac was the son of Jonathan & Sarah "Sally" Yates Sherrill.
> My gg grandfather (Wm. Isaac) was the brother of Sarah. Was Louisa Ann
Pennington a descendant of the Chandlers? I don't have my file in front of
me but the name sounds familier.
